The Star Castle Restaurant on the Isles of Scilly was awarded Silver in the Restaurant of the Year category in this year’s Cornwall Tourism Awards, a fantastic achievement that saw it ranked alongside the county’s top establishments. The annual awards competition received 180 entries from across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Of these, 75 were selected as finalists and last night (Thursday 2nd November), the winners from 26 categories were announced at the official ceremony, which took place at the Headland Hotel in Newquay.
The Star Castle restaurant is part of the family-run and owned Star Castle Hotel, a sixteenth century star-shaped castle and now an excellent four star hotel that stands on the garrison on the island of St Mary’s, providing a suitably noble location for this award-winning eatery. Few restaurants can boast the daily provision of fresh lobsters and crabs pulled from the sea by an owner with an unmatched love of the sea and fishing. Even fewer restaurants can boast the provision of fine wines produced from their own vineyard, which also acts as a pop-up restaurant in the Summer, serving a ‘one mile lunch’ combining the locally produced wine and seafood with potatoes and rocket grown in the restaurant’s kitchen garden, just a walk away.

It is testament to the passion and dedication of every member of our team that we have been ranked so highly.”
